hyperreceiver

hyperreceiver (55″) is a piece for solo cello and 6-channel electronics, using Max/MSP for live signal processing.

It is based on a system of amplification of various harmonics in the overtones series of the cello, as well as using an FFT algorithm to distribute different frequency ranges throughout 6 speakers and a subwoofer pointed at the walls of the room.

The piece is a large cycle of sensitivity, with 5 smaller cycles of exhaustion and rest within it. During each section I become fully exhausted by amplifying and distorting the slightest stimuli into a full-blown obsession. Following each exhaustion is a period of rest and sanctuary.
